COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Columbus police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in north Columbus Wednesday morning. According to Columbus police, officers responded to reports of a person “down and out” at the Grant Park Apartments on North Grant Avenue in the Weinland Park neighborhood. Police secured an area of the parking lot and one of the apartment units at the complex. (NBC4/Isabel Cleary) At the scene, medics pronounced Amareyon Daniels, 22, dead after he appeared to have been stabbed. Minutes later, police received a report of Shavar Johnson, 23, and Courtney Webb, 21, arriving at a nearby hospital, with Johnson seeking treatment for an apparent gunshot wound to the hand. Police said a handgun was found at the scene. Both Johnson and Webb allegedly told police that they were attacked by Daniels and that both men were injured during the fight. However, police said that other evidence shows Webb meeting Daniels, who was then attacked by Johnson. Police said that both Webb and Johnson are from Richland County and it is unclear why they traveled to Columbus. Johnson is charged with murder while Webb is facing an obstructing justice charge. Both are being held at Franklin County Jail and scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Columbus Police Det.
