New Jersey governor hopeful cops to fake Spotify Wrapped list high lighting Bruce Springsteen
Dec 11, 2024
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) admitted that his Spotify Wrapped post last week was in fact altered.
The four-term congressman, who hopes to lead the state as governor next year, said the screenshot of his top five favorite songs for the year, all by Bruce Springsteen, was a mock-up of what would have been an accurate recap.
“This would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didn’t share my account with my 12 and 15-year-old kids,” Gottheimer said in a statement to NJ Advance Media.
“While it’s Springsteen all day for me — don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!”
He copped to the fake post after the New Jersey Monitor’s newsletter questioned its authenticity.
The candidate posted his factual account recap on Wednesday.
“Since everyone is dying to know, I’m actually a real Springsteen fan. The biggest surprise here is I managed to listen to more music than my kids this year,” Gottheimer wrote on the social platform X with the photo confirming Springsteen was his top artist.
The candidate for governor has cited his musical love for “the Boss” as a connecting factor throughout his campaign, venturing to feature references to the artist on his campaign’s website.
It’s a trend that’s proven to be a common factor between current Gov. Phil Murphy (D) and former Gov. Chris Christie (R).
Murphy declared Sept. 23 “Bruce Springsteen Day” earlier this year.
