FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A man is facing charges after allegedly attempting to evade Fall River detectives by hiding in a chimney Tuesday night.
Detectives were executing a search warrant at a house on Canal Street when two men reportedly fled from the home onto the roof.
One man managed to escape by leaping from the roof onto a parked car, but the other, 33-year-old Robert Langlias, found himself wedged in a chimney after trying to hide.
Firefighters and EMS were called to assist in the unusual rescue. Fall River Police Lt. Matthew Mendes told 12 News that firefighters had to break the chimney to free Langlias.
As a precaution, Langlias was taken to a hospital before being placed into custody. He now faces charges of possessing Class A and Class B drugs, as well as several offenses tied to outstanding warrants.
During the search, police also arrested 32-year-old Tanisha Ibay, who is charged with possessing Class A and Class B drugs.
No additional details about the investigation have been released.
