OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Before the mailman gets to your mailbox, there’s a whole process with a constant shuffle of mail at the Oklahoma City USPS Processing and Distribution Plant. As you can imagine, that operation really ramps up during the holiday’s.
There was quite a bit of hustle and bustle at the plant Tuesday morning, which can only mean that the holiday’s are upon us.

"We definitely have an increase in the packages that we see coming through the facility,” the plants manager Sean Walton said.
The 600,000 sq. ft. facility can run 320,000 pieces of mail per day and it all moves quickly.
"By tomorrow morning all this mail will be processed and be out of the facility,” Walton said.
The plant hums with the never ending sounds of forklifts moving your mail and sorting out packages. Just like Santa’s workshop, it’s a 24/7 operation involving hundreds of workers.
“The mail never stops coming,” Walton said.
"We have a great team of managers and supervisors,” plant clerk Daisy Ortiz said. “They always help us out if you need more help in some areas they can help."
One of those workers is Ortiz. She’s worked at the plant for about a year now.
"I love it,” she said. “I like it a lot."

As quickly as the postal service elves, so to speak, are working, there are still deadlines.
First class mail and USPS ground advantage is recommended to be sent out by Wed. Dec. 18 while priority mail needs to go out by Thu. Dec. 19 to get where it needs to go on time. However, if you need more time, you’ll need to send packages by priority mail express and that deadline is Sat. Dec. 21.
Walton recommends making sure your address labels are clearly marked and un-obstructed while also taping up everything tight to avoid any hang up’s this holiday season.
