ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A man died two days after he was critically injured in a house fire in Yoder. Wednesday, the Marion County Coroner confirmed Matthew Linn Stewart, 63, died on Dec. 7. The fire broke out Dec. 5 in the basement of a home on Indianapolis Road around 6 p.m. Stewart was able to get to a neighbor's house to call 911, but he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Southwest Fire District got the flames under control in about 30 minutes. The Air National Guard assisted, along with fire departments in Ossian, Roanoke and Markle. The coroner said Stewart was pronounced dead at a hospital in Indianapolis. The cause of the fire has not been released.
