Two Springfield residents arrested after shot fired on Union Street, two guns seized

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting on Union Street in Springfield early Tuesday morning.
At around 1:55 a.m. officers were called to the area of the 400 block of Union Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers observed three people near the intersection of Union Street and Walnut Street and stopped to speak with them.

Police say that a firearm could be seen coming out of one individual's hoodie pocket and detained 21-year-old Rashae McKinney of Springfield. Officers seized a loaded ghost gun with 9 rounds of ammunition capable of holding 17 rounds and additional loose ammunition.
The second individual began to run away while holding his waistband but was quickly captured by officers. Police recovered a stolen firearm that was loaded from 21-year-old Brian Grant of Springfield and located oxycodone, clonazepam and dextroamphetamine inside his fanny pack.
The third individual was identified and released. During the investigation, a shell casing was found in the area where the ShotSpotter activation occurred.
