WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An all-electric microbus is the latest addition to Volkswagen's lineup and is now available at dealerships nationwide, including in West Springfield. This iconic microbus from the 1960s has been reinvented with modern technology to create a nostalgic yet futuristic driving experience. The Father & Sons Volkswagen in West Springfield is one of the many dealerships to receive an all-electric ID. Buzz this week. The general manager tells us these vehicles have impressive range capabilities, with the rear-wheel-drive models offering 282 horsepower and 234 miles of EPA-estimated range, while the 4Motion models boast 335 horsepower and 231 miles of EPA-estimated range. It can fit up to seven passengers. The ID.Buzz is just one example of how electric vehicles are shaping the future of transportation. "These are becoming cars that are more for everyday living. Ranges have really increased," says General Manager Ethan Prentiss. "There's enhanced charging networks that are coming this year, features and availability, the size. You know, we've gone from those really small micro EVs to full-fledged I mean, this thing is three rows, the Volvo, the X 93 rose, Q six is going to be huge and available and just works for the everyday mass." He says there's already a growing demand for the all-electric microbes. The Father & Sons dealership had a customer pick up one this morning, and are seeing more pre-orders come in. If you're interested in getting an electric vehicle, it is recommended to utilize charging networks and one-pedal drives, to maximize range.
