GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) — Curative Connections, a non-profit organization located on Western Avenue in Green Bay, is helping its clients achieve independence through innovative programs.
One such program, Yesteryears Village, was launched this past April and aims to provide a setting that fosters familiarity and evokes memories.
The village features settings like a diner, auto shop, gas station, barbershop, and a townhouse, offering an immersive experience for participants. Director of Donor Engagement and Marketing Kari Moody says the program is unique.

“We’re the only non-profit in the United States offering this program,” Moody said. “People come into this space, and it feels like you’re walking into the 1960s. It’s not a theater set; this is a completely immersive experience. You are in the rooms, having lunch in the diner, doing all of those things.”
Moody also highlighted the rising number of individuals struggling with dementia.
“There are more than 5,000 people aged 65 and older in Brown County alone who are living with memory loss. That number is expected to increase by 105% by 2040,” Moody said.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, over 120,000 people in Wisconsin are currently living with dementia, a number expected to nearly double by 2040.
Feedback from loved ones and caregivers suggests that Yesteryears Village is having a positive impact on patients.
“We’ve received a lot of feedback from loved ones and caregivers, and they love it. It feels good to have a great place for your loved one to hang out during the day and do all kinds of things,” Moody said.

The cost for participants to experience the program is six dollars per hour.
Curative Connections encourages people to support the cause through financial donations, volunteering, and most importantly, by spreading the word about Yesteryears Village.
