Your drinks helped Dutch Bros raise over $14K to make Thanksgiving dinner boxes

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE)— $1 from each drink sold at Dutch Bros a week ago collected over $14,000 in just one day, money that will be going to build Thanksgiving dinner boxes for families in need.
"We got turkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing," Dutch Bros' Jacob Cantu said. "We were able to purchase all that food, and today we're going to be putting them in boxes and then dropping them off."
Cantu says 300 families, who otherwise would not have a Thanksgiving meal, will enjoy all the food for free thanks to everyone who bought a drink at Dutch Bros the day of the fundraiser, something he is thankful for this year.
"I just want to thank everybody that stopped by that day. Whether it was drive-thru, walk up or place an order ahead," Cantu said. "It's making a huge impact in the Valley."
Cantu says Dutch Bros' wholesale distributor, McDonald's Wholesale, donated another $500 to provide even more meals. Of the 300 dinner boxes that were made, Cantu says 200 of them will go to families affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters and 100 of the meals will go to the Poverello House.
Big Brothers Big Sisters President Diane Phakonekham says this Thanksgiving she's thankful for Dutch Bros' contribution - and thankful she was able to be a part of the fundraising process.
"It's a blessing to be a blessing," Phakonekham said. "It's going to taste only that much better when we sit down with our loved ones and eat our Thanksgiving meal."
