Nov 27, 2024
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — U.S. News & World Report has released its list of the 150 best places to live in America in 2025 and yes, Memphis made the list.
While you'll have to dig a little to find Memphis at No. 122, the Bluff City still ranked one spot higher on the list than Miami, two spots higher than New York, and several spots above Los Angeles.
Chattanooga was Tennessee's highest-ranked city at No. 27, and Nashville was at No. 50. Jackson, Mississippi was two spots above Memphis at No. 120.
The publication praised Memphis' history and historic districts, neighborhoods, music scene and non-profit organizations.
The city scored highly for cost of living, with U.S. News saying rent, mortgage, food costs and service costs are significantly below the national average and other metro areas.
"Although it's one of the largest metro areas in Tennessee, the region's small-town atmosphere fosters a close-knit community that makes it an attractive place for families to settle. Its rich music scene is a magnet for artists looking to give their career momentum, and as a center of global transit and a crossroads of distribution, the area offers a wealth of job opportunities."
