EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities are investigating after a man was shot in an unincorporated area of El Cajon Tuesday afternoon. The shooting took place just after 2 p.m. near the 14700 block of Quail Haven Lane, said officials with San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Deputies with the Alpine Sheriff's Station responded to the scene and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Deputies immediately rendered medical assistance to the man until paramedics arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive following emergency surgery, authorities said. Alpine deputies are now seeking the public's help in identifying and finding the suspect, who remains at large. At this point in their investigation, no identifying details are available.
