MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is now in jail after police say his fingerprints were lifted from a stolen vehicle used to steal $11,000 worth of items from a Gamestop in East Memphis last week. On November 16, a victim filed a police report stating their 2021 Infiniti QX80 sedan was stolen from an apartment complex on Park Avenue. On November 22, around 3:45 a.m., officers say they responded to an alarm call at a Gamestop on 5043 Park Avenue. The sliding metal gate and the front glass door were broken along with various items on the business floor. The store manager told police the suspect(s) took Xbox consoles, PS5 consoles, video game accessories, and clothing from the store, totaling $11,000. Officers say they viewed video footage showing 2 sedans and a large Infiniti SUV parked in front of the store breaking the metal gate and glass door before entering. Mother, son shot during robbery at Southwest Memphis store According to reports, some of the stolen products had tracking devices. One of the GPS devices was tracked to a South Memphis home on Dempster Avenue. Officers say the stolen Infiniti and video game consoles were in an alley behind the house when they arrived. At that time, the Infiniti was towed to the tunnel with a hold. On November 25, the Infiniti was processed for fingerprints which were lifted from the front passenger door window frame. The police identified the prints as 18-year-old Zachary Ballard. Zachary Ballard (SCSO) On November 26, Ballard was found at a South Memphis home and taken into custody. Ballard is charged with theft of property $10,000-$60,000. He is scheduled to appear on Friday.
