WAILUKU, Hawaii (KHON2) -- The Maui Police Department, along with several community organizations, will gather on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. in front of the Maui County Building in Wailuku to launch Maui County’s Impaired Driving Awareness Holiday Campaign. MADD warns of impaired driving as ‘Blackout Wednesday,’ Thanksgiving nears Hannah Brown, a 19-year-old from Maui, was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2019. The event is organized by the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division, the Hawaii Alcohol Policy Alliance (HIAPA), the Maui Coalition for Drug-Free Youth, the Hawaii Public Health Institute, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the family and friends of Hannah Brown. This year, the public is urged to take extra precautions when celebrating and drinking during the holidays.
