Visa cutting over 200 Bay Area jobs just ahead of holidays

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- With the holiday season upon us, Visa is the latest Bay Area-based company to announce it will be cutting jobs. The San Francisco-based credit card and financed company announced it would be cutting over 200 jobs locally in state filings posted Tuesday.
The company will be cutting 192 jobs at its location at 900 Metro Center in San Mateo and another 10 jobs at its office at 300 Toni Stone Crossing in San Francisco's Mission Rock neighborhood.

All of the layoffs are permanent, according to Employment Development Department filings. The layoffs will take effect on Jan. 21 of 2025.
Visa is the latest Bay Area employer to announce job cuts ahead of the holidays. Earlier this month, Palo Alto-based mobile technology company AppLovin Corporation announced plans to cut 120 jobs and Santa Clara-based education tech company Chegg announced it would be cutting over 300 jobs.
