SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) -- A 51-year-old Sioux Falls man was arrested for two counts of murder for a stabbing on Saturday near the 500 block of Duluth Avenue.
More charges filed against 33-year-old for ‘crash spree’
Eleghba Lipsey was arrested Sunday for a parole hold. After further investigation, he was then charged with first and second degree murder as well as manslaughter and three counts of aggravated assault related to the Saturday stabbing.
Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens said there is a possibility that the weapon used in the crime has been recovered but is still undergoing testing.
"There was a couple people that had information that pointed us to the defendant (Lipsey), it was a partnership working with parole to identify that he was on parole," Clemens said.
The victim and Lipsey knew each other, according to police. Lipsey was on parole for other unknown crimes.
According to court documents, police had contact with Lipsey three different times in the last two months before the stabbing. Lipsey also admitted to police he had a knife on him for his protection.
The circumstances of the crime are still unknown.
This was the 14th homicide, a record for the city of Sioux Falls, in 2024.
