ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester is trying to make it easier for swimmers to become lifeguards. According to officials, the city will be offering a Lifeguard Development Program aimed at helping those comfortable with swimming in the deep end prepare for the lifeguarding certification course. It'll also open the door for potential job opportunities, officials announced. Classes for the program are expected to begin Dec. 2 and run through Dec. 17. They'll be open to anyone ages 15 and older. City residents will be able to participate for free. Officials said the classes will help folks develop "advanced swimming strokes and deep-water skills" while also teaching water rescue techniques and first aid fundamentals. They will additionally provide CPR and AED training. New parking guidance system introduced for Rochester airport Classes will be held Mondays and Tuesdays from 6-7:45 p.m. at the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center.
