Forest Hill Avenue reopens after emergency sewer repairs
Nov 26, 2024
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond announced that Forest Hill Avenue between Joe Brooks Boulevard and Hathaway Road has reopened today.
According to the City of Richmond's Department of Public Utilities, the emergency sanitary sewer work on Forest Hill Avenue in between the area of Joe Brooks Boulevard and Hathaway Road has been completed.
The final steps of milling, paving and striping have been fulfilled. The road has now reopened completely -- with all traffic patterns having been restored, including left turns and U-turns.
The work began in the spring of 2024, replacing failed sewer lines, as well as addressing sewer mains that were at risk of deteriorating and imminent failure.
The final phase is expected to begin in the summer of 2025 -- replacing the remaining sanitary sewer lines that are close to the end of their use. DPW said updates will be provided in the spring of 2025.
