Attleboro elementary school welcomes therapy dog

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — An elementary school in Attleboro is welcoming a new member to the team.
Macy will serve as Thacher Elementary School's new therapy dog.
The 5-month-old Goldendoodle first visited the school earlier this month and will be a permanent fixture after a 10-day training program that starts next week.
“She has already made a huge impact,” Principal Frank Rich said. “She will be attending a full training beginning the first week of December, but we’ve had her coming to school to help her get used to all the noises, smells, and general hustle and bustle of the school.”
School officials hope she will be helpful to students struggling with anxiety.
They are already looking into a "Read with Macy" program, to help students with reading issues feel more comfortable.
