BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The atmospheric river's downpour on Bakersfield has reduced southbound highway 99 to two lanes, just south of Taft Highway, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.
The large puddle of water under Taft Highway overpass has caused a two-vehicle accident just after 6 a.m. While no injuries have been reported, the flooding has prompted CHP officials to close the first and second lanes of southbound highway 99, according to the page.
The large puddle has also forced officials to close the first lane of northbound highway 99, as flooding in the center divider continues to expand.
Southbound and northbound highway 99 remains open, but motorists are advised to travel with caution.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
