The California Botanic Garden in Claremont will offer its annual Luminaria Nights several evenings in December. The event features luminarias and twinkling string lights in the gardens, with twisting paths linking three live music venues. New this year are expanded luminaria pathways, new musical acts, a new hot drink menu and an illuminated art installation on view only during Luminaria Nights. There are different musical performances each night, with musical genres ranging from early choral music to blues to Native American flutes, according to a news release. In the Cultivar Garden there will be projections of native plant photos by Craig Burrows, and in the California Courtyard there will be a different food truck each night. Luminaria Nights will be 6-9 p.m. Dec. 12, 13, 14, 20 and 21, with the Dec. 12 event open only to California Botanic Garden members and featuring member activities and discounts. Musicians scheduled to perform include Steve Rushingwind with Native American flutes, Dec. 12, 13 and 20; the Jazz Doctors, Dec. 13; Jouyssance Early Music Ensemble, Dec. 13; harpist Pheobe Madison Schrafft, Dec. 14 and 21; and Ray McNamara Ensemble, blues, Dec. 20 and 21. Food trucks scheduled for this year’s Luminaria Nights are 5Elementos, Dec. 12, 14 and 21, and Tropic Truck, Dec. 13 and 20. Tickets for members are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students with ID and children ages 3-12. Tickets for non-members are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, students with ID and children ages 3-12.
