Deputies in Wisconsin make 17 drug and OWI arrests of the weekend

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) — Deputies in central Wisconsin had a busy weekend working to keep citizens safe, making or assisting with 17 drug- or impaired-driving arrests.
Between Friday and Sunday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office conducted numerous traffic stops that resulted in warnings, citations, and arrests.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says results like these highlight the importance of their dedication to proactive traffic enforcement.
“Each of these impaired drivers was a potentially fatal crash waiting for the right circumstances to happen,” said Columbia County Sheriff’s Captain David Clark. “We are dedicated to ensuring these people that made the dangerous decision to consume alcohol or drugs and then operate a motor vehicle are held accountable for their actions.”
Deputies urge individuals who have been drinking or using drugs to find a safe and sober way home.
“An OWI is expensive and can lead to jail time; putting your life and the lives of innocent motorists at risk just isn’t worth it,” added Clark.

All charges listed are accusations of criminal conduct where probable cause existed for an arrest. Some individuals have yet to be formally charged in the Wisconsin Circuit Court system.
