SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a mother and her child for assaulting a student on Friday. Authorities say around 9 a.m., 36-year-old Nessie Gibson and her child assaulted the victim at the RE Davis College Preparatory Academy. Both have been charged for the incident while another child of Gibson was charged with public disorderly conduct. Gibson is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center while her child that started the assault was released to a family member and petitioned to family court.
