MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A 23-year-old Mount Pleasant resident was arrested for crimes against children, the state attorney general's office said Monday.
Mason Clayton was arrested on Nov. 20 and charged with one count of the sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree. The offense carries a maximum punishment of up to years in prison.
Investigators said Clayton was in possession of child sexual abuse material.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Mount Pleasant Police Department arrested Clayton.
Investigators from the Attorney General's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Charleston County Sheriff's Office, and the state's ICAC Task Force members assisted with the investigation.
The South Carolina Attorney General's Office will prosecute this case.
