CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The United States of America and Massachusetts flags have been lowered to half-staff after the death of former State Representative Gloria Lavera Fox. Governor Maura Healey has ordered the flags to be lowered to half-staff on November 14th. The order was issued to honor longtime former state lawmaker Rep. Fox of Roxbury, who died at the age of 82. Man diagnosed with Crohn’s disease running across Massachusetts for children’s hospital Fox was a Democrat and was first elected to the House back in 1985 and served until 2016 as the longest-serving female member of the House and the branch's only African-American woman. The flags are lowered to half-staff on all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, December 10th, the date of interment.
