ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Offensive linemen on the Lobos Football team took a break from practice, but it wasn't to rest. Several players were hard at work helping those needing a little extra help this Thanksgiving.
Players made a difference off the field Sunday donating their time and "N.I.L" (Name, Image, and Likeness) funds to buy turkeys and fixings for those in need of a warm Thanksgiving meal.
Offensive lineman Elvin Harris shared, "We feel like the little that we have we could just do something for the community and just give back it's always a great thing to do."
Some of the players know how hard it can be to put food on the table, so they wanted to extend a hand up.
"When I was growing up, my mom had to work three jobs, so I know how it feels, and I'm grateful I can give back now," said teammate and fellow offensive lineman McKenzie Agnello.

Last week, the Lobos posted on social media to say they were going to host a turkey drive and were shocked to see the community's response.
Thousands reacted to the post and over 100 people pre-registered. In preparation for the crowds, the players purchased over 300 turkeys.
Each person who drove up to the stadium was greeted warmly by the players and received one large turkey, cans of corn, potatoes, and other veggies.
"Man, it's been great people have been very thankful of us because, like, I guess people really needed it. We're just glad to help people and just give them something because you don't know what people go through, so we're just here to give them something to eat," exclaimed Harris.
