(COLORADO SPRINGS) — This time of year -- many people serve our community with incredible passion and Vaughn Littrell is one of those people. After serving seven and a half years in prison Littrell was determined to give back.In 2014, after serving his sentence, Littrell began "Thankfest," a Thanksgiving feast giveaway. Starting with just five families, his efforts now go towards meal ingredients for hundreds of families in Colorado Springs. "I was just thinking what I could do for the community we started," said Littrell. "So I don't really know. I wanted to do something that made a difference and I didn't know it was going to get this big. I had no idea. But it's pretty cool that it has, and we're able to do a lot of help." On Saturday, Nov. 23, more than 50 volunteers, including the Vista Ridge varsity football and girls basketball teams, packed 250 cars with all the groceries needed for a full Thanksgiving meal. The event was hosted by the Community Partnership for Child Development (CPCD), which supports low-income families in Colorado Springs with children ages birth to five.
