CHARLESTON, S.C. (WSAV) -- Bethesda Academy's bid to win back-to-back SCISA Class AA state titles came up short. The Blazers fell to Pee Dee Academy, 52-14, at Buccaneer Field on the campus of Charleston Southern on Nov. 23. The game was tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter. However, the second 12 minutes did not go in Bethesda's favor. They gave up 16 points and were unable to score. Additionally, with five seconds remaining in the first half, as they tried to end the half with a touchdown, their pass attempt was intercepted, which concluded the half. Pee Dee Academy shutout Bethesda in the second half, while adding an additional 22 points. Bethesda had issues with turnovers in the fourth quarter. The good news for Bethesda is they only lose five seniors from this roster. Head Coach Antwain Turner said he feels "heart broken for this senior class," but he is hopeful they will have a strong team next season. Bethesda finishes the season 9-4 and as the SCISA Class AA state runners-up.
