"Everyone who knew Chuckie would say that he was a man of faith, had a heart for people, and would do anything to help others. He served the community faithfully as an officer and citizen, and he was well known and loved by so many," the post says.
The post does not mention when Spencer died or a cause of death.
Spencer served with the APD for 20 years, working in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Vice/Narcotics unit before turning in his badge and starting a new business venture.
He opened his store Grit & Grunt Uniform and Tactical in Lexington in September 2023, offering medical scrubs, chef uniforms and even alterations to public servants and other workers.
"Until we fellowship again, brother!" the APD says.
