Assumption Parish Schools gets 'B' rating, see scores go up in new state education report

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Assumption Parish Schools earned a "B" rating for student achievement based on the latest report from the Louisiana Department of Education.
The report, released on Wednesday, Nov. 20, said the district's performance score went up to 81.8, improving from last year's score of 80.6.
A news release stated, "Some of the district's greatest gains came in the high school assessment index and progress index, as well as the high school graduation rates and strength of diploma categories."
Assumption High School, Napoleonville Primary School and Pierre Part Elementary saw increases in their individual school performance scores. According to a news release, four schools, including Assumption High School, Napoleonville Primary School, Napoleonville Middle School and Bayou L’Ourse Primary School were acknowledged as top gains honorees.

"We are certainly pleased with the continuous academic improvements we are seeing across the district. This upward trend is seen in several of the K8 and high school indices used to calculate the school performance score."
