WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A pedestrian died after being hit by an SUV. The Wichita Police Department said Angela Carrillo, 48, of Wichita, was walking across West Street at the crosswalk on Central when a southbound Lincoln MKX hit her. It happened around 8 a.m.
EMS rushed Carrillo to the hospital in critical condition. She died a short time later.
The woman driving the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Police think the sun may have contributed.
"We believe the morning sunlight is a factor in this crash, limiting the ability of the driver to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk," Capt. Aaron Moses, Wichita Police Department, said.
