Morton County ends fire emergency, burn ban declaration
Nov 21, 2024
MANDAN, ND (KXNET) — The Morton County Commission Thursday officially rescinded the Fire Emergency and Burn Ban Declaration, put in place during the extremely dry conditions and high winds earlier this year.
Effective immediately, open burning is permitted unless the Daily Fire Index is in the “High,” “Very High,” “Extreme,” or under a “Red Flag Warning."
The commission rescinded the ban after consulting with fire chiefs in Morton County.
Morton County residents are reminded to monitor the Daily Fire Index and take appropriate precautions to prevent wildfires. To ensure safety, always follow state and local regulations for open burning and consult your local fire department if you have questions.
