BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — In just a few weeks, Governor-elect Kelly Armstrong will take the oath of office in North Dakota. This week, Armstrong announced three people he's chosen to lead some of the state departments. That includes Joe Morrissette, who Armstrong is putting in charge of the office of management and budget; Chris Schilken, who will oversee the commerce department; as well as Corey Mock, a Democrat state lawmaker from Grand Forks, who has agreed to be the chief information officer for North Dakota's information technology department. Armstrong said in a recent interview that changes were coming and that the biggest problem with state agencies is too much turnover. NDGF warns hunters about early ice conditions "The second biggest problem with any agency or any organization is not enough turnover. So, I mean, we're going to bring in some new people, we're going to keep some people, I mean, that's how government jobs, particularly at that level work. But everybody gets a fair shake," Armstrong said. "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him, and as soon as he got elected, I reached out to him, knowing that I am on my way out of the Legislature, I know that it can be a heavy load as you're bringing your team, you've got to learn about the appropriation process, the agencies," Mock said. Armstrong announced he's committed to keeping nine of the department leaders in their current posts, including Jeb Williams with North Dakota Game and Fish, Brig. Gen. Mitchell Johnson with the North Dakota National Guard, and Ron Henke with the Department of Transportation. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
