NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans is one of the greatest cities in the world for live music. This weekend is filled with the sounds of psychedelic rock, brass band bebop, and New Orleans rhythm and blues. Here are Where Y’at’s picks!:
First, the Brass-A-Holics blend New Orleans brass sounds with go-go funk, creating distinctive music. Experience their musical expertise on Thursday evening, Nov. 21 at the Jazz Playhouse inside the Royal Sonesta Hotel, and enjoy specialty cocktails, delicious food, and great music.
Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Saenger Theater, Bob Weir will be performing iconic songs from his time with the Grateful Dead, as well as his solo albums, in collaboration with the Wolf Brothers featuring the Wolfpack…as well as the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
Next, Sober Fest is Saturday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This one-day music festival is committed to creating an alcohol-free and fun environment. This year's performers include Ivan Neville, Jason Ricci, and Anders Osborne…with all proceeds going to Bridge House/Grace House.
Finally on Monday evening, Nov. 25 the Uptown Jewish Community Center will be hosting a book discussion with author and rabbi Dr. Raphael Zarum. Discussion will center on his recently released book, Questioning Belief: Torah and Tradition in an Age of Doubt. The event is free to attend with an RSVP.
