NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — In the wake of Sunday's St. Roch-area shootings, leaders held a prayer service to stand against violence.
"I'm tired pastor of our Saturdays being held up with funerals," said Pastor Jean Marie.
The New Orleans Police Department, pastors and city leaders came together at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church to pray for New Orleans, after two shootings left two dead and 11 injured on Sunday.

"We talk about conflict resolution. We pray that the people in New Orleans would now begin to respect the law. Dear God, respect life, dear God. Respect our officers, dear God, respect space," said Jean Marie.
NOPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick says she wants to work with local pastors in an effort to decrease crime. She asked to walk the streets of their neighborhood and pray with residents.
"Many cities have utilized bringing their clergy together and being systematic and proactive as a part of community partnership in reducing crime, creating an environment of peace," said Kirkpatrick.
It's something Pastor Jacques Williams agrees with saying now is the time to act not react.
"We have to not only encourage our people to open up their mouths if they're uncomfortable themselves, going to our police department, they say they're comfortable talking to us. If we act on it, we can prevent occurrences like this from happening. Then, we have to take seriously that assignment and responsibility," said Williams.

Following the prayer service pastors and the family of 21-year-old Rasean Carter and 19-year-old Malachi Jackson visited the site where the two young men were killed.
They now want to raise awareness in the city.
"I'm speechless right now. I appreciate and thank all of you. I don't know what to say," said Carter's mother Kiwana Coler.
"Law enforcement on everything. On top of everything. Where no mother has to hear the scream that my mother had to experience and the scream that I heard," said Carter's sister Charlesa Coler.
