Coldest air in months moves into New Mexico Wednesday morning
Nov 19, 2024
Cooler air moved into New Mexico Tuesday, but it's going to be very cold Wednesday morning. For many, it will be the coldest temperatures since last winter.
Breezy winds returned again Wednesday afternoon. These winds have died down tonight as extremely dry air continues to move in. Skies will stay clear too. This combination, combined with already cool air, will bring the coldest temperatures since early this year to New Mexico. The Albuquerque Metro will drop into the 20s and upper teens, while parts of western and northern New Mexico will even drop into the single digits!
A warming trend begins Wednesday afternoon. High temperatures will continue to warm through this upcoming weekend when highs will be back above average statewide. Winds will stay light all week too with dry weather sticking around. Some changes arrive to the forecast though beginning Sunday, with some moisture beginning to move into southern Colorado. This will eventually move into northern New Mexico by next Monday and Tuesday. This could bring in some light rain to lower elevations and light to moderate snowfall in the northern mountains and southern Colorado.
