NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department provided an update on Sunday's mass shooting that happened during a popular second line at a news conference on Monday, Nov. 18. According to the NOPD, 10 people were shot in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue after a gunman opened fire into a crowd. "Last night, we had approximately 100 New Orleans Police Department officers on the scene," said NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. "They were working this particular second line, and yet the tragedy still occurred in this particular second line through thousands of people." Kenner man found guilty of killing another man outside convenience store Nearly 45 minutes later, at the intersection of Almonaster and Florida avenues, police received another call. Upon arrival, officers discovered two people with gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while the other victim later died in a hospital. A third victim drove themselves to a hospital for treatment. "I'm calling on, of course, the District Attorney, on the State of Louisiana, who might have to do the prosecution to recognize that there are families who are hurting right now and that they deserve justice," said Councilman Eugene Green. Police have not been able to confirm if the two shootings are related but say two different firearms were used in each of the shootings. "We do have leads, and we will find the perpetrators. You will be held accountable," said Kirkpatrick. Legislative audit releases findings on NOPD response times, job satisfaction, more All 11 victims are reportedly in stable condition. "Crimestoppers has not received a lot of tips on this, and we know there were a lot of folks out there with cell phones," said Crimestoppers CEO Darlene Cusanza. "We know there were people there who saw what happened. You need to send the information. Law enforcement needs your help. And if we say stay silent, we are condoning this. We should never condone this." Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 cash reward for information that can lead to an arrest and a conviction.
