RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- All charges have been dismissed against a Richmond man charged with the February murder of another Richmond man. On Monday, Nov. 18, all charges 49-year-old Jermorrie Simmons of Richmond faced in connection to the murder of 55-year-old Derrit Banks, also of Richmond, were dropped. The evening of Sunday, Feb. 25, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 300 block of West Clay Street for report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found Banks with a gunshot wound in the arms of his 10-year-old grandson, Mi'King Fountain. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Simmons' jury trial began on Monday.
