HICKORY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police (KSP) located a missing three-month-old infant from Missouri on Sunday morning, ensuring the child’s safe return to the custody of authorities.
According to a release, KSP Post 1 dispatch received information from the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 10:46 a.m. CT about the missing infant, who had been ordered into the custody of the Missouri Department of Social Services. Authorities believed the child’s biological mother, Taylor Roldan, 29, had left the state with the child.
Less than 20 minutes after receiving the tip, troopers found the infant safe at a residence in the Hickory community of Graves County, along with her mother, said KSP. The infant was immediately transferred into the care of the Missouri Department of Social Services.
Roldan, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was arrested and charged as a fugitive based on a Missouri warrant for parental kidnapping. She was being held at the Calloway County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Missouri.
KSP said it worked alongside Missouri law enforcement, the Missouri Department of Social Services, and Kentucky’s Department of Community Based Services to ensure the child’s safety.
In a gesture of comfort, the infant was provided with a Trooper Teddy bear, part of KSP’s program to support children involved in traumatic incidents. For more information about the program or to purchase a Trooper Teddy, visit the Kentucky State Police website.
