BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Officers, firefighters, paramedics, and many others all do their part to keep our roads safe, and Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW), which goes from Nov. 18 – 22, 2024, allows North Dakotans to honor them. CRSW also lets Vision Zero to express gratitude for the dedication and hard work of crash responders. “We are deeply thankful to every responder who puts their life on the line to keep our roads safe and deliver care to those who are involved in traffic crashes,” said Karin Mongeon, NDDOT Highway Safety Division Director. “Their courage and commitment inspire each of us to take steps to protect them and others when we travel on North Dakota roads.” Woman arrested for punching officer after crash in Williston Drivers can drive responsibly by always wearing their seat belts, obeying posted speed limits, driving unimpaired and distraction-free, and following the Move Over Law, which requires drivers to slow down and move over for any vehicle on the roadside with flashers on. Every day, law enforcement, fire and rescue teams, emergency medical services, public works, transportation crews, towing professionals, and others put themselves at risk by working at the roadside. Crash responders clear thousands of motor vehicle crashes each year across North Dakota and respond to other incidents such as stalled vehicles or roadway debris.
