Minority and Small Business Summit to create ultimate networking scene

The Governor’s Minority and Small Business Outreach Summit comes to Baltimore on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Because its popularity has grown so much, it had to be moved this year to the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor to accommodate the expected increase in attendance.The summit is likely to attract over 800 local, small, minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses along with dozens of prime contractors. There will be over $7 billion in contracting opportunities with state agencies. Maryland is ranked the top state for minority-owned businesses according to a recent analysis by Lending Tree.There will be workshops, networking sessions, and myriad insider tips to help them break into the world of government contracts. They can learn how to create and refine winning bids, and how to leverage certifications like “minority-owned” and “women-owned” to their competitive advantage.Prime contractors can expand their network of qualified subcontrators who bring talent, diversity, and strength to their relationships with government agencies.The Maryland Department of General Services, Maryland Department of Transportation and University System of Maryland will host this year’s summit. Their goal is about more than contracts. It is about creating pathways to economic growth, jobs and a thriving business community in Maryland.
