INDIANAPOLIS -- A Fountain Square live music mainstay is expected to move locations in early 2026, providing a new opportunity for year-round concerts in the neighborhood. The Hi-Fi and MOKB Presents announced on Monday that it will construct a new indoor venue in the Murphy Arts Center, the site that currently hosts the Hi-Fi Annex for outdoor concerts during the summer. The new indoor venue, which will tentatively share the name with the annex, will provide a permanent home for the Hi-Fi Annex. Hi-Fi Annex to open 2024 season with venue enhancements, upgrades “When we opened our first venue, we didn’t have a detailed plan, but we did have a vision,” Josh Baker, the partner and CEO of HI-FI & MOKB Presents, said in the release. “It’s been a humbling journey filled with unexpected challenges, adaptation, and getting really lucky. With each expansion and renovation, we’ve moved closer to realizing our dream of creating a multifaceted entertainment and arts facility.” The new venue will double the size of the outdoor Hi-Fi Annex and will include a concert hall with a 1,200 capacity. It will also be located at the former site of the historic Granada Theater. “Fans can expect our continued commitment to delivering high-caliber entertainment and exceptional customer service—hallmarks of the experience we’ve provided over the past 10 years at HI-FI and the first five years of HI-FI Annex,” Dan Kemer, the partner and vice president of events, said in the release. “The new space and increased capacity perfectly complement our growing group of venues, which now includes LO-FI Lounge and HI-FI. With venues ranging from 100 to 1,200+ capacity, we’re uniquely positioned to support artists, managers, and agents year-round at every stage of an artist’s career.” Indianapolis location of Alamo Drafthouse to open Nov. 18 The final season of the outdoor Hi-Fi Annex will be in 2025. According to the release, concerts will begin in early April. Musicians featured at the venue have included American Football, Jeff Rosenstock, Guided By Voices and Charley Crockett. “The evolution of HI-FI from a small, 100-capacity venue to where it is now has been transformational,” Craig Von Deylen, the manager of the Murphy Arts Center, said in the release. “The synergy between arts, music, and culture in Fountain Square is unmatched in Indianapolis. This project is a significant step toward strengthening that foundation as the area grows as the city’s premier arts district.
