Mild with a few showers Monday; cold surge coming
Nov 18, 2024
The week is starting very mild with temperatures that will be well-above average for the time of year. If you've been enjoying the milder air, take advantage of it today and tomorrow. We will turn much colder later in the week and some could even see the first snowflakes of the season.
There will be a few spotty to widely scattered, light rain showers Monday. Not everyone will see rain today. These will be more favorable to occur in the northern half of central Indiana. That's the area that needs the rain most with moderate to severe drought conditions still in place.
Winds pickup this evening and another wave of rain moves through late tonight and this round will impact more of the area. However, these showers will pass through while most are sleeping. There will still be a few lingering showers around daybreak on Tuesday. Skies will then turn brighter in the afternoon but winds remain breezy as temperatures climb back to the mid and upper 60s.
We are in for a major pattern shift as a cold core low will sink into the states. Temperatures will fall to the lowest levels of the season, so far. Temperatures will peak near 50° early in the day Wednesday and fall to the low 30s Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon, many may not make it out of the 30s for high temperatures. These colder temperatures mixed with some precipitation will bring the potential to see our first snowflakes of the season in some areas Thursday afternoon and evening. Stay tuned as there may be some adjustments to the forecast between now and then!
