LOS ANGELES, CA – Four people have been arrested in California on suspicion of insurance fraud after claiming their cars were damaged by a bear.
Surveillance video shows the so-called bear entering and then damaging a 2010 Rolls Royce. However, the bear is actually a person in a costume.
A biologist confirmed it. Detectives found the bear costume in the suspect’s home.
Before getting busted, authorities say they defrauded three different insurance companies out of more than $140,000, claiming animal damage on three separate cars.
Insurance claims were submitted for the Rolls Royce and two Mercedes.
The insurance fraud investigators point out this is not just how the so-called bears move in the cars, it’s also how the bear entered the car.
