SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- After a husband and wife were fatally shot inside their vehicle Wednesday in downtown San Diego, a GoFundMe has been set up to help raise funds for their funeral expenses and their four children. The couple was identified by the San Diego Police Department as 31-year-old Rachael Martinez and 39-year-old Jose Media. The GoFundMe page reads, "On Nov. 13, a tragedy struck the heart of Little Italy, taking the lives of Rachael Martinez and Jose Medina, beloved parents of four young children. This senseless act of violence has left their family shattered, and their children are now left to navigate life without their loving parents." Suspect wanted in College Area hit-and-run crash The shooting happened at 1300 Union St. just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. SDPD said the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Christopher Farrell, was in a previous dating relationship with Martinez, and that she and her husband were headed to the courthouse to attend a restraining order hearing against Farrell before they were fatally shot. SDPD officers and Harbor Police later located Farrell at West Juniper Street and Kettner Boulevard just after 9 a.m. A shooting ensued and Farrell was struck in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to SDPD. Camp Pendleton Marine arrested on suspicion of contacting minors for sex One Harbor Police officer was also injured in the shooting and is currently recovering in the hospital. During an investigation, detectives learned Martinez had filed a police report with SDPD on Oct. 4, accusing Farrell of domestic violence, false imprisonment and sex crimes. They also found that he had been a security guard who worked for Inter-Con Security, which provides contract security guards for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. On Oct. 7, Martinez was granted a temporary restraining order against Farrell. Court records show that a deputy tried to serve Farrell that restraining order at his work in October. However, he had already been removed from his role at Inter-Con more than a month ago, according to a statement from MTS.
