TARC's Winter Wonderland opening soon in Topeka
Nov 15, 2024
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Organizers are making headway towards getting one of Topeka's brightest and most colorful holiday displays ready for the winter season at Lake Shawnee.
TARC's Winter Wonderland drive-through holiday light display at the lake will be opening in less than two weeks. This will be the 27th year the fundraiser has been up and running in Topeka.
Money raised by TARC helps support its work in the community with people impacted by intellectual, development and related disabilities. Volunteers with Evergy, Shawnee County Parks and Recreation and Brown's Super Service have been working for weeks to get the light display ready for the season.
"Sometimes it feels like, oh my gosh are we going to get to the finish line, you work with such great people that make it exciting that make it rewarding last year we brought in $230,000, and that was incredible," said Mandy Wells with TARC.
