Bethany Hamilton makes a big splash on Fox's The Masked Singer

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Professional Surfer, Author, and now Singer--Bethany Hamilton traded in her surfboard for a microphone the other evening making her singing debut on Fox's The Masked Singer.

She joined Wake Up 2Day to spill all the details on her impressive and challenging journey.
The professional surfer shared, "When the show reached out, I originally thought I would be a guest judge but to my surprise they wanted me to participate. I am always up for a fun challenge though."
After reaching out to a friend who was previously on the show, she was convinced to test the waters and get on board.

As for the challenges that comes with being new to the stage, she said, "I don't think my singing is a strong point, but being under the mask gave me the confidence."
Though Bethany didn't get to choose her macaron costume originally, she was able to give her personal Hawaii-touch by adding flowers.
She also wanted to choose a recognizable, fun, and upbeat song so they went with "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen.
Bethany juggles many of her endeavors along with being a full-time mom.

Though she has closed the doors to singing, she is excited for what the future holds for her surfing career.
