CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A long-awaited clean energy bill was passed by lawmakers in Massachusetts and is now on the Governor's desk. MCAS replacement pitched following election This new bill comes as President-Elect Donald Trump vows to back fossil fuels and stand against offshore wind projects. The Massachusetts House voted 125-17 to approve this bill following the Senate's approval last month, and Governor Healey has been urging lawmakers to complete it. State lawmakers say it would push the state toward cleaner energy. It includes a stronger push toward electric vehicles, updated regulations on clean energy resources, and making more families eligible for utility rate discounts. There's also a $200 million investment into offshore wind projects and another $200 million to the clean energy investments fund.  With the shifting National Energy Policy dynamics following Donald Trump's re-election and a GOP agenda accused of denying climate change, Primary House negotiator of the bill, Representative Jeff Roy said quote, "Now, in light of recent events, these two bills have taken on a new gravity. It is at the state level that we must continue to push forward the necessary clean energy policy to fight the negative effects of the climate crisis." President-Elect Trump has already said what he plans to do to energy and offshore wind power when he returns to the White House.
