None of the officers were hurt as a result of the gunfire and Campbell exited the home and surrendered peacefully a short time later. Cambell was then taken into custody and charged with the following: Attempted murder Three counts of assault on a government official Felony kidnapping Felony assault by strangulation Assault on a female Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence The WSPD's Criminal Investigations Division responded and has assumed investigative responsibility. Campbell is being held without bond and will appear in court on Friday. Winston-Salem Police Chief William H. I am beyond angry that someone would try to cause harm to anyone, let alone our guardians in the community. I look forward to justice being served.” Winston-Salem Police Chief William H. Penn, Jr.
