WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A Winston-Salem man accused of assaulting a woman is facing more charges after allegedly shooting a gun at police officers, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. At around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, officers came to the 500 block of Old Plantation Circle after getting a report of an assault involving a woman. The woman left the scene before police arrived. When officers arrived at the scene, they tried to speak with the suspect, Tyson William Campbell, 37, of Winston-Salem, at the front door. Campbell then proceeded to fire a gun through the door in the direction of the officers. None of the officers were hurt as a result of the gunfire and Campbell exited the home and surrendered peacefully a short time later. Cambell was then taken into custody and charged with the following: Attempted murder Three counts of assault on a government official Felony kidnapping Felony assault by strangulation Assault on a female Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence The WSPD's Criminal Investigations Division responded and has assumed investigative responsibility. Campbell is being held without bond and will appear in court on Friday. Winston-Salem Police Chief William H.
