2021 Newport house party homicide suspect sentenced

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — A man accused of a May, 2021 stabbing homicide has been convicted and sentenced according to court records.
Tyrese Poulsen will serve 30 years in prison for manslaughter in the homicide, with credit for time served, effective November 13.
The incident occurred on May 29, 2021 at a Thames Street house party when Poulsen stabbed 22-year-old Maximus Julian in the neck.
A witness told police that Poulsen confessed to the stabbing after getting into their vehicle after the crime.
Jamaal Reid was also charged in the incident with harboring a criminal and disorderly conduct.
