Muncie approves 3 new DORAs

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Muncie City Council approved three new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORAs) on Thursday, which will allow patrons aged 21 and over to carry and consume alcoholic beverages in outdoor areas.

"We’re excited to offer a new way for residents and visitors to experience our city, while also supporting local businesses, restaurants, and breweries," Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour said. “These designated areas provide an opportunity to enhance outdoor dining and entertainment options, helping our city continue to grow as a vibrant, welcoming destination."
According to a press release, the DORAs will be in the following locations:
Downtown Muncie
Ball State University Village
McKinley
Muncie's City Council said these areas will be marked with signage and follow proper DORA regulations.
The city added that they aim "...to ensure the initiative’s success and minimize any potential public safety concerns."
